Today we spent the final fabulous day of 2013 building a house, teaching English, art, math, sport and dance! We thought there couldn’t be a better way to farewell a fantastic year!
Bun, Sophart, Sarah, Sam, Kate, Tom, and Sellene are working hard to complete the house on time!
We split into groups today and rotated between nailing up the walls of the house, sanding the walls of the house, painting the walls of the house, teaching English to students of various ages, and teaching sport, math, dance, and art! It was a packed day but we enjoyed every second.
Daniel working hard with his students during an English class!
For lunch we all split into small groups in different houses and were taught how to cook the local cuisine – and then we got to eat it! It doesn’t get more satisfying than that!
Lily and Ariel with their little helper, sanding and painting the skeletal house frames!
In the afternoon we got back to work and continued to work until we could see the reds, pinks, oranges, and yellows setting over the sporadic clumps of palm trees and rice fields – magical!
Sarah with students in art class!
Tonight we’re spending the first part of the evening at a Khmer language and history class, eating a traditional dinner, and then we’ll see what the night will bring!
Sellene being taught how to dance – Cambodian style!
Happy new years to all back home – we’re thinking of you tonight as we bring in the new year in the picturesque Siem Reap, CAMBODIA!!
Phillip, Yun, and Katie doing some serious ground work!
Love from,
Garth, Lily, Yun, Phillip, Katie, Andrea, Kate, Shani, Daniel, Sellene, Sarah, Ariel, Rachel and Tom!
